Chris, Leon, and Shawna are taking the Summer of 2003 to circumnavigate the great island nation of Iceland in sea kayaks. All three of them are internationally renowned coaches and truly extraordinary people. Chris is one of the most accomplished solo paddlers in the world having previously solo-circumnavigated the eastern third of the United States, and all of Great Britain, Ireland, and the South Island of New Zealand. Shawna and Leon are founders and owners of Body Boat Blade International (see next portfolio piece). All three of them have coached and taught at symposiums and seminars from the Pacific NW, across the US, and in Europe.
Much of their gear is being donated by generous and supportive sponsors. They all have many friends, family members, students, and supporters that would love to track their progress while they're gone, and find out where to hear them speak before they leave and after they get back. And of course, everyone wants to see pictures from the frigid cold waters of glacier-covered Iceland.
To give their kind sponsors as much exposure as possible, to help them get more sponsorship, to help raise funds with t-shirt sales, and to help keep their supporters in touch with their progress, Nomad Cows donated their official expedition web site. We designed and built their site, added an e-mail update subscription list, and an order form to sell trip t-shirts so they can raise money for the expedition.
